For over 70 years, 5th -8th grade students in Chapel Hill have joined with their friends and fellow students from the surrounding area to learn social skills and responsibilities and basic partner dancing through Chapel Hill Social classes.

Students learn essential social skills including:

  • Expressing respect and courtesy
  • Conversation
  • Complimenting
  • Table manners
  • Restaurant dining protocol
  • Host and guest behavior
  • Courteous phone and email use
  • Assuming responsibilities
  • Issuing and declining invitations
  • Popular partner dances such as: waltz, swing, cha-cha, and salsa

5th -6th Grade Class: 7:00-8:15 pm
7th -8th Grade Class: 8:30-9:45 pm

Knowing the rules and what is expected of them and then practicing with classmates and their families gives students a boost of confidence in interacting with others now and builds confidence in facing new social situations in the future.
